Frequently Asked Questions

  • A: Delivering clean, well-organized stems makes a huge difference in how efficiently and accurately your track can be mixed. Here's how we recommend preparing them:

    Start With Structure:

    • Bounce each stem from the same starting point — even if there's silence at the beginning.

    • Every stem should run the full length of the track to avoid sync issues.

    • Leave space at the end to capture reverb and delay tails.

    Keep Your Creative Intent Intact:

    • Include your effects, automation, and panning unless you want us to start from a raw version.

    • If you're using a master chain (e.g. limiting, compression), bounce two versions — one with the processing (as a reference) and one clean for mix purposes.

    Stem Format Guidelines:

    • Format: WAV or AIFF

    • Bit Depth: 24-bit (unless otherwise discussed)

    • Sample Rate: Match your session (typically 44.1kHz or 48kHz)

    • No Normalization: Avoid normalizing, it can skew your mix balance

    Name Everything Clearly:

Keep your stem names short and specific so nothing gets lost in translation. Any stem(s) you are concerned about, isolate as it’s own stem so it can be treated individually (like Kicks, basses and snares).
